Preparing for a NEW SHOW; The Material, Costumes, Set Design and Rehearsals
There is so much that goes into the making of a new show. In addition to the show itself; the performing artist must take care of their instrument and the instrument is their body. Nutrition, exercise, rest and exercising the muscles of the vocal chords on a daily basis are important. Learning the script or lyrics of songs and then rehearsing the show is key to a successful performance.
Deciding on the theme for the show will effect the style of the costumes to be worn and the choreography and type of instruments to be used in the band. The layout of the band on stage and the set design further enhance the experience for the performers as well as the audience. Budgets also come into play when preparing for a show. It is an exciting process! As I prepare myself I try on costumes, wigs, makeup to get “the look.”
“Life is like preparing for a new show. Each day we choose the way we will present ourselves to our audience.”
~ Sandy Kastel
“All the world is a stage. And all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and entrances...”
~ William Shakespeare
